Our Story
The Community Peer Justice Project (CPJP) was created to support individuals with current and past justice involvement through compassionate support, access to care, and system navigation. Developed under the Maryland Peer Advisory Council (MPAC), this project responds to the growing need for peer-led reentry, risk-reduction, and behavioral health support within Baltimore City, with connections across Maryland.
Every year, people returning from incarceration face overwhelming barriers—housing instability, lack of healthcare access, stigma, unemployment, and disconnection from family and community.
CPJP was built to address these challenges through a holistic, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed approach.
Our Approach
We center lived experience, community voice, and trauma-informed care to guide individuals through reentry, care access, and ongoing support. Our Peer Specialists help reduce stigma, increase engagement, and aim to lower recidivism by creating safer, more supportive pathways to healing and recovery.
